Notice of Public Hearing and Review Regarding EPA Grant Funds
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a draft grant application to the Environmental Protection Agency to obtain $475,300 in Brownfields funding for environmental cleanup of a property located at 22 South Jeremy Street, Salt Lake City, Utah, will be available for review until November 16, 2022. A public hearing was held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 regarding this grant application. A recording of that meeting is viewable here.
The property is located along a segment of the new Folsom Corridor Trail within the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency’s (RDA’s) North Temple Project Area. Salt Lake City proposes to reuse the property to begin establishing trail-oriented and affordable commercial space for nonprofits and local, independent businesses as part of the revitalization strategy for the area.
Past uses at and near the property have resulted in releases of hexavalent chromium and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that have impacted the soil and groundwater in portions of the property. A cleanup plan, referred to as the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA), has been developed for the property that is appropriate for the planned use.
The ABCA and draft grant application are available for review here:
They are also both available in the RDA offices at 451 S. State Street, #118 and at www.slcrda.com and the City Recorder’s Office Public Notices website at https://www.slc.gov/attorney/public-notices. For more information please contact:
